I am deaf/HoH and looking to make some friends who know ASL. I need to learn since I am struggling communicating with the world at this time. My friends (or what they call themselves anyway) have become very distant because it is very awkward to hang out with hearing people and not be able to be a part of the conversation. I am planning on being at the coffee chat on 6/17/11 at the 1960 location. If you see me, please do say “Hi”, i am 25yrs old, short brown hair, and very petite. I hope I can get to know many of you! 🙂

Recently I lost my job due to my HoH. I would like to come here to meet people and improve my communication skills.

Hello everyone, perhaps someone can help me. I am trying to get an idea of how many are in the ASL community in the South Houston, Pearland, Friendswood area. I am doing research to see if there are enough in the population to offer free bible education in ASL. please email me @ dbilopez@yahoo.com, thank you

Hello everyone, this information was pulled from this site – http://happy.deafcoffee.com/houston-tx/. You may want to contact the person who’s responsible for hosting it.

For those wishing to know about the far-west Houston STARBUCK coffee social on Westheimer on the first Friday, this social was under the host of a person who has moved from the Houston area and has become inactive. This social could be started back as active but keep in mind that the First Friday is also the long-standing and very popular ASL social scheduled night. With this in mind, a new host would be wise to consider having this social on the First Saturday, provided enough people want to attend. Anyone can be a host.
The Starbuck Third Friday (located on US290) is very active. Although it is in conflict with the Silent Diner at Baybrook Mall on the same date, the two locations are so far apart that having them on the same night is not a problem.

Additionally, would anyone be interested in a DCC = Deaf Chat Coffee at a Starbucks (or possible other place) in the Woodlands area? I would love to coordinate and host, just need to know if there is much or any interest?
All ideas, input, suggestions appreciated! Email me!
