One year has gone by fast and the North Houston ALS Social will be celebrating its one year anniversary on Friday, July 26th beginning at 5:30pm. Our social grew out of an lightbulb moment of Lara Parker to have a time together in the north area of Houston to bring together the Deaf community and the ASL students of your local colleges. We have grown for a small beginning of 17 attending to almost 50 attending each month. Lara asked for the help of Sharon Grizzaffi and Robert Yost to establish this social and in March we had the sad passing of Sharon. Sharon would want us to continue to grow and her spirit will be with us every fourth Friday.
Lara’s parents, Chris and Karen Parker are the fanchise owners and they have very generously allowed our group to use their Chick-fil-A restaurant. The location of this Chick-fil-A is 4410 North Freeway (Interstate 45 North at the intersection of Crosstimbers Rd. The Parkers have provided each person attending a free chicken sandwich each month. We are truly thankful for their generosity. Please see me to get a coupon before ordering your meal. There will be a special recognition of the Parker family at our celebration. We also will have a anniversary cake to share with eveeryone and several door prizes will be drawn for. You have a great chance of winning one.
Come out on Friday the 26th and enjoy a great time of signing with your friends and making new friends. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see each of your.
