RESCHEDULED DATE FOR THE PROTEST AND RALLY AGAINST THE FORCED USE OF THE VRI

The original date of August 9th for the protest and rally against the VRI has been rescheduled for August 18th, Thursday. This reschedule was necessary to give the media (newspapers and television) more time to prepare to cover our event. The deaf community is asked to meet at MMSC (metropolitan multi-service center) located at 1475 west grey street at 10am on Thursday August 18th. At MMSC we will ride a shuttle to the Houston city hall. There we will have several speakers whom will voice their concerns and problems with the VRI. For some deaf the VRI is acceptable and comfortable for their use. But other deaf have found the VRI to be unreliable and very difficult to use. Therefore, we want the deaf to have a choice of using a live interpreter whenever the deaf ask for the use of a live interpreter. Please come out on Thursday morning August 18th and support the deaf community in having their rights to have a choice of interpretation.
