Diabetes Workshop Session

Attention: Diabetics and those with family members with Diabetes. The Lillian Beard Deaf Connection Center will be having their 2nd in a series of five, Diabetic Management Work Shops.

This months topics are “How to have a better Doctor’s visit, and Learning How to Read Food Labels.” The class will start at 10am with a break at 11am for light snacks. Be sure to eat a good breakfast.

Come and learn important questions you need to ask Doctor, and what tests you should have done to improve your Diabetes Management. Then have fun reading food labels and discover how that can help you manage your Diabetes better.

PERFORMANCE INTERPRETING WORKSHOP

If you are an interpreter or Deaf performer and love music, you need to join us for an incredible musical interpreting workshop right here in Houston! The event is March 9th & 10th. The Bringing the Stage to Life workshop has traveled the entire country, teaching interpreters from the North South East and West to present music to the Deaf in a visually stimulating manner. Deaf Community: we need you to volunteer! The fact is that interpreters only grow if they get feedback. If you are interested in helping interpreters present music better, then join in and volunteer! Sign Language Women’s Bible Study

This is a FREE sign language women’s Bible study and all are welcome! We will meet for 12 weeks on Wednesdays from Jan. 25th – April 18th (with a week off for Spring Break on Wed. March 14th). We will meet from 7:00-9:00 pm. The location is at Lone Star College-CyFair, ART 204, 9191 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433. Here is a map: http://lonestar.edu/maps-cyfair.htm

The video portion of the study will be interpreted and the group discussion will all be held in sign language. Deaf and hearing signers are both welcome. Women from all faith backgrounds are welcome! Our first meeting on January 25th will be a fun meet and greet with snacks provided. Come out to the campus and bring your friends! Here is a description of the study:

This 11-session, DVD-driven, updated edition includes testimonies from real women like you. Read their stories of redemption as you face your own strongholds, overcome them, and change your story. Wonderland: A Night of Discovery with Dionysus

Food Drive Need Your Support – LBDCC

Our organization will be holding a food drive beginning November 3, 2011 through January 3, 2012 to help support the Food Pantry of the Lillian Beard Deaf Connection Center. This is an excellent chance to make a difference in the lives of many as well as making a significant impact on our community. I encourage you to join this effort to help our less fortunate neighbors.

The food and funds we raise will help, The Lillian Beard Deaf Connection Center, Food Pantry to supply food to those in need, in the deaf community. Together we can fight against hunger in the Deaf Community.

With help from various Deaf Programs through schools, we can achieve this goal.

Here are ways we can help:
Donate on line at http://www.lillianbearddeafcenter.org or by cash or check made payable to Lillian Beard Deaf Connection Center, Donate non perishable food to the LBDCC during our drive. Barrels are located in the center.

SPECIAL NOTICE:
- Teens ages 16 to 17 will be allowed to serve on the mission June 17th-25th.
- Students 16 to 17 must have a signed parental permission form and a letter of recommendation from their pastor or youth leader.
- Students 14-15 may travel with the mission team but must be accompanied by a parent.
