HOUSTON BLACK DEAF ADVOCATES PRESENTS: HBDA invites you to our special Black History Month event on February 11, 2012. We will have speakers to share their admiration for achievements of deaf & hearing Black people. We hope that you can join us. Bring your family, friends, and classmates to celebrate with us. Sign Language Women’s Bible Study

This is a FREE sign language women’s Bible study and all are welcome! We will meet for 12 weeks on Wednesdays from Jan. 25th – April 18th (with a week off for Spring Break on Wed. March 14th). We will meet from 7:00-9:00 pm. The location is at Lone Star College-CyFair, ART 204, 9191 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433. Here is a map: http://lonestar.edu/maps-cyfair.htm

The video portion of the study will be interpreted and the group discussion will all be held in sign language. Deaf and hearing signers are both welcome. Women from all faith backgrounds are welcome! Our first meeting on January 25th will be a fun meet and greet with snacks provided. Come out to the campus and bring your friends! Here is a description of the study:

“As Beth Moore teaches in Breaking Free: The Journey, The Stories, with God’s power you can change the course of your life. This 11-session, DVD-driven, updated edition includes testimonies from real women like you. Read their stories of redemption as you face your own strongholds, overcome them, and change your story. If where you are isn’t where you want to be, don’t stay there. Break free!”

Who Can Serve: Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing, all skills are needed.

Families:**This is a family-friendly mission trip.**

Teens ages 15 to 17 will be allowed to serve.

Students 15 to 17 must have a signed parental permission form and a letter of recommendation from their pastor or youth leader.

Students ages 13 to 14 will be allowed to serve.

Students 13-14 may travel/serve with the mission team but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

NOTE: Fee dose not inculde roundtrip airfare from your home location to Fort Lauderdale.

Public Videophones at City of Houston facilities

The City of Houston’s Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities and Communication Service for the Deaf (C-S-D) have partnered to provide videophones for the deaf and hard of hearing at city facilities. The videophones offers: point-to-point, Video Relay Service Calls and IP Relay.

Below is the list of facilities currently hosting a Videophone unit:
