We will have a Hot Dog plate with drink for $5.00.

Greater North Houston ASL Social at Main Event

The Houston Deaf community and ASL students will enjoy socializing at Main Event on Friday March 21st from 5pm till closing, 2am.
Previous socials at Main Event have has large attendance. Main Event has food and drinks to purchase and also has great games of bowling, pool, shuffleboard, etc. You will be able to visit and sign with old friends and make new friends. It is important to remind everyone that all ASL socials are “voice off.”
Please respect this and if you use your voice sign throughout your conversation. Lets heep those hands and fingers moving.

Bringing Songs to Life in Signs for the Church

Come to Sagemont and learn how to sign your favorite church songs! We will meet on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Leyel Hudson, a certified interpreter, will show us how to interpret songs commonly sung in church services. The fee for the class is $35, accepting both cash and checks. Deaf Culture Workshop

Talking Hands, the American Sign Language Organization at Stephen F. Austin, is hosting its Spring deaf culture workshop on March 1st from 11am-4pm. Meet-and-greet begins at 11, lunch will be catered at 12, and our panel of experts starts at 1. Panelists will include individuals immersed in the Deaf world on a daily basis. Cost to attend is $10. Crime Victims’ Rights and HPD Victim Services

The next Deaf PIP meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 7:30 PM located 9920 Long Point (Woodhaven Church)

This month, our topic presentation will be: “Crime Victims’ Rights and HPD Victim Services”.

This informative presentation will outline the statistics of the population that are victimized and also include information on crime victims’ rights and HPD victim services the event that one becomes the victim of crime.
