What you see or what you say about others reveals who you are. However you perceive toward others, you should expect the same response. Lack of understanding and poor communication should be addressed to close the gap of intolerance. I think it's just simply an excuse to target people alledgly of being insensitive to the deaf community or vice versa.

For those who are rude or judgemental to other is really about the person who is being rude/judegmental to themselves. They are looking at other people like a mirror that they see in themselves...so when they are rude or judgemental...they are being rude to themselves or judging themselves. It is not about you, it is about them. When one is rude or make judgement against me, i acknowledge that it is not about me, but them. Those who are rude or judgement need to learn to love themselves and be kind to themselves....the rudeness and judgemental will disappear.

While it's true that everyone judges, I have to point out that these people are clearly prejudiced and stereotyping us deaf.

They would not dream of saying these kind of things about black people, gay people, and so on. But it's ok to say those things about us?

Go figure.

You are talking conformities, I don't do that. I found most disagreements about rudeness are simply based on unawareness, and the deaf/hearing person refusing to fess up to their own misundertandings and shortcomings, and then assuming everyone is abusing them, it's communication breakdown 8 times out of 10. The other 2 will fight over anything !

Certainly there have been some rude deaf people and they seem most prominient in a small minority group.

However, in my experience, d/Deaf people have been usually patient and absorb a lot of rudeness and insensitivity from hearing people before they will exhibit rude behavior of their own. It is because as a deaf person, he will not be sure of the situation and so give the other the benefit of the doubt rather than get into a difficult communication situation.

Just my opinion. Rude hearing people are the exception, too, and most of the time they are remembered best, not the nice ones. That's human nature. It is also human nature to take advantage of weaker people, so if a deaf person is rude, ask if it is a reaction or a protective response to someone else being abusive.

Otherwise, you're right, we deaf need to watch our reputation and our responses to the world.
