Acting Opportunity for The Deaf Community

Seeking actors for a special production of “Children of a Lesser God”. Auditions will be April 24th at 2pm in Pasadena, TX (Location TBD). Please contact Director, Morgan Rollins (979-251-2399/ or Renea Runnels (832-287-7781/ for additional details.

“Children of a Lesser God,” a groundbreaking play about the relationship between a deaf woman and a hearing man, who clash over ideas about speech even as they fall in love.

The play’s theme is centralized around Deaf Culture and has special casting requirements.

James Leeds (30s) – A speech teacher at a State School for the Deaf.
Requires an actor skilled in American Sign Language (ASL).

Sarah Norman (mid-20s) – Deaf from birth.
Requires an actor skilled in American Sign Language (ASL).

Orin Dennis (20s) – Has some residual hearing; a lip reader.

Mrs. Norman (40s to 50s) – Sarah’s mother

Mr. Franklin (30s to mid-40s) – The Supervising Teacher at the Deaf School.

Lydia (late teens) – Has some residual hearing, a lip reader.

Edna Klein (30 to 40) – A lawyer.

We are seeking volunteer actors as this is a part of a Girl Scout Gold Award project and the production itself will staged on July 9th for a select audience.
